TDKCorporation has announced the CUS400M medical and industrial AC-DC power supplies under the TDK-Lambda brand, packaged in a standard 3″ x 5″ size. With forced air, the series can offer 400 W and 250 W and can be supplied when convection cooled with a peak capacity of up to 400 W.

The duration of that peak is up to 30 minutes (40 °C ambient, 230 Vac input) with a maximum duty cycle of 50%, considerably longer than most products on the market. This makes the CUS400M ideal for applications withrelatively low power consumption and occasional peak demand, including hospital beds, dental chairs and incubators.

The CUS400M power supply can be used in Class I and Class II applications (without earth connection) and offers an efficiency of up to 94%.

Initially, they are available with 12 V and 24 V outputs, with 15 V, 19 V, 28 V, 36 V and 48 V models being released later this year.

All models accept an input of 85 to 264 VAC and have a no-load power consumption of less than 1.3 W when the output is inhibited. Optional are 5V 2A or 12V 1A standby voltage, remote on/off, remote detection, AC fault signal and OK output signal.

The series has a choice of mechanical configurations. Open frame, baseplate, U-channel and enclosed versions are available, as well as a version with a top-mounted fan.

To optimise cooling, the bottom of the CUS400M circuit is embedded in a thermally conductive insulated plastic base (patent pending). This allows heat from surface mounted power components to be dissipated into a cold plate or the system chassis. The overall dimensions of the open-frame model are 77.5 x 128 x 39.5 mm).

The CUS400M has a 4,000 Vacoutput isol ation input (2 x MoPP), a 1,500 Vac earth isolation input (1 x MoPP) and a 1,500Vac earth isolation output (1 x MoPP) for suitability of B and BF rated medical equipment.

La corrente di dispersione è <250µA e la corrente di contatto è <100µA. L’altitudine massima operativa, di trasporto e di stoccaggio è di 5.000 m, che supporta l’uso globale e le vendite globali di apparecchiature terminali.

Medical and industrial safety certifications include IEC/EN/ES 60601-1, IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 with CE marking for Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS directives.

The units also comply with EN 55011-B and EN 55032 B (Class I and II) conducted and radiated emissions and meet the harmonic requirements according to EN 61000-3-2, IEC 60601-2 Edition 4 and IEC 61000-4 standards.
