Keysight Technologies has announced that the company is the first to gain approval from 3GPP for 5G New Radio (NR) protocol testing supporting Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology, using its Protocol Conformance Toolset.

Keysight's test cases were submitted on 21 March 2020 and verified by 3GPP's RAN 5 working group, which works to establish compliance test specifications for the radio interface of user equipment (UE).

Chipset and device manufacturers rely on 3GPP-verified 5G NR test cases to verify designs that use CA to increase bandwidth and support higher data rates. These test cases focus on5G NR deployments using CA in non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) modes in frequency range 1 (FR1) and FR2.

Keysight then presented these test cases for verification during the most recent 62nd Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) meeting, led by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) on April 23, 2020.

It has been confirmed that Keysight's protocol compliance toolset maintains support for the broadest range of GCF validated protocol compliance test cases. Comprehensive test case support allows device manufacturers to leverage Keysight's common solutions platform to verify designs that use different modes to meet global requirements.

Following the GCF meeting, it was confirmed that Keysight's DVT RF/RRM compliance and toolset, part of the company's suite of 5G network emulation solutions, offers a leading number of GCF validated 5G NR test cases and RF bands.

The toolset uniquely provides GCF validated RF test cases that allow users to verify compliance with the C-V2X standard as specified by 3GPP. As a result, the automotive industry can accelerate the commercialisation of connected cars and autonomous vehicles.

Comments

"Keysight continuously supports the development of 5G technologies, such as carrier aggregation, enabling a connected mobile ecosystem to commercialize devices that support advanced 5G applications," said Muthu Kumaran, senior director of Keysight's wireless test group. "Many mobile device manufacturers use Keysight's 5G solutions to access a full range of validated test cases for GCF certification across multiple technologies, including 5G NR, LTE and C-V2X, on a common solutions platform."
