Datamate Mix-Tek connectors and contacts available for separate purchase

Harwin has made its supply chain leaner and more responsive by extending the scope of its Datamate Mix-Tek high reliability (hi-rel) connector series. 31OEMs can now purchase cable housings for these 2.00 mm and 4.00 mm pitch connectors without mounted contacts, rather than being limited to a small number of predefined kits.

This allows customers to consider a wider range of contact options from Harwin's portfolio, specify the housing-contact combination that best meets their needs and receive their order more quickly.

Buying housings and connectors separately, rather than as kits, offers important logistical advantages. OEM purchasing departments can have access to high volumes of the components they need directly from stock to avoid potential delivery time issues. Production staff can then assemble the specific housing-contact elements as required.

The housings are designed to accommodate all coaxial and power contacts, and feature a range of different mating screw fixings (including standard, reverse-fixing and pin guide types for panel mounting).

The new additions to the Datamate Mix-Tek portfolio have all the same performance parameters as the kits and pre-assembled units.

Loose contacts are available in acoaxial option (50 Ohm, up to 6 GHz nominal frequency), or 20A (maximum) and 40A (maximum) power contacts suitable for a variety of wire sizes.

A selection of mixed technology housings is also available, with signal contacts capable of supporting 3A of data signal. Harwin's current crimping and assembly tooling offerings are all compatible with these housings and contacts.

Once assembled, the connectors show strong resistance to shock and vibration, and cover a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

These features allow them to beused in demanding avionics, satellite, medical, robotic and industrial systems, as well as engine control systems and battery systems for sports and electric vehicles (EVs). In addition, supporting 500 mating cycles, they provide an extended operating life.

Comments

"From this point on, we can go far beyond standard kit-based solutions. Our customers can now take advantage of the full extension of the Datamate Mix-Tek platform, as all signal, power and coaxial contact options can be purchased directly from stock in combination with our popular housing types," explains John Brunt, Datamate Product Manager at Harwin. "This follows similar schemes fielded for both the Gecko and M300 series, which are already proving very successful. It will offer customers a much more practical, faster and scalable service."
