Tektronix has announced the new Mixed Signal 6 Series B version oscilloscope, which extends the performance of the Mainstream category up to 10 GHz bandwidth and up to 50 GS/sec sampling.

Strongly oriented to the needs of today's embedded designers grappling with high-speed signals for transmission and data processing, the new MSO Series 6 version B evolution offers leading performance in terms of signal fidelity thanks to a 12-bit ultra-low noise ADC operating at up to 10GHz bandwidth, all while offering up to 8 simultaneous channels in FlexChannel technology.

All accompanied by an intuitive interface that greatly facilitates its use.

In conjunction with the release of the MSO Series 6 version B, Tektronix also presents the new Tri-mode probe model TDP7710, which allows you to take full advantage of the advanced capabilities of the front end of the new oscilloscope.

The new MSO Series 6 Version B oscilloscope exceeds the most demanding expectations, enabling top industry players to validate the most advanced technologies in the industrial, consumer electronics, medical and computer/datacom markets.

This tool, designed with particular elegance and attention to detail, is intended for high-speed embedded electronics designers whose troubleshooting needs on ultra-fast serial buses are pushed to the limit.

The new MSO Series 6 Version B is also targeted at the semiconductor market, power integrity applications, and general high-speed applications in the automotive, aerospace and defense, advanced research, and much more.

Exceptionally accurate and reliable measurements

The new MSO Series 6 Version B oscilloscopes offer a combination of absolutely first-rate bandwidth performance, sampling rate, vertical resolution, channel noise and ENOB.

Fully upgradeable up to a maximum of 10 GHz and 50 GS/s sampling rate, they provide the user with the necessary signal visibility performance typical of the most advanced designs.

Regarding signal fidelity, for example, the instrument offers market-leading performance such as 51.1 µV noise at 1 mV/div and 1 GHz bandwidth, which remains below 1.39mV even at 50 mV/div and 10 GHz.

The MSO Series 6 Version B is also the first oscilloscope on the market to offer a choice of 4, 6 or 8 channels on bands above 2GHz.

Each FlexChannel technology input can also be converted to 8 digital inputs using a TLP058 logic probe.

Advanced Analysis

The new MSO Series 6 Version B oscilloscopes offer numerous protocol decoding options for serial buses, as well as solutions for testing their compliance with each standard, jitter analysis and analysis of typical power electronics measurements.

In addition, DDCs (Digital Down Converters) integrated in each channel enable multi-channel spectral analysis functions, so that frequency spectrum measurements are temporally synchronized to the time domain display.

This also allows to verify the correlation of events between time domain and RF domain.

Outstanding user experience

The new MSO Series 6 Version B oscilloscopes feature a 15.6-inch HD capacitive touch display that is extremely responsive and supports actions such as pinch-zoom-swipe, drag and drop, with intuitive operation complemented by a best-in-class object-oriented user interface.

The new version includes the world's first 10 GHz oscilloscope that can work according to user preference in both Windows 10 and a proprietary operating system without compromising on performance or ease of use.

The new MSO Series 6 Version B oscilloscopes feature a removable solid state hard drive, with license security options that also minimize cybersecurity risks.

Theprobe interface is the TekVPI, well known for its versatility and ease of use, able to support different generations and families of probes without problems, also simplifying the setting of scales and settings without risking errors.

The new TDP7710 Tri-mode probe is a perfect example of this, with its bandwidth of up to 10GHz and, more importantly, its ability to implement common mode and differential measurements without having to reconnect the probe to the circuit.

Comments

"Tektronix aims to provide the right measurement solutions for anyone who performs high-performance testing, and who requires precision and speed of measurement at the time often, pushed to the limit," said Chris Witt, vice president and general manager of Tektronix. "Embedded design has reached very high levels of complexity due in part to the adoption of ultra-sophisticated sensor technology capable of producing and managing massive amounts of data. Our new tools are aimed precisely at those video, motion and 3D sensing applications that pose these challenges."
