TekScope PC software with enhanced Multi-Scope analysis

Tektronix has recently enhanced its TekScope PC software with a new feature that makes it the most innovative and sophisticated PC-based waveform analysis software available for the T&M industry today.

TekScope software with enhanced Multi-Scope analysis allows remote users to simultaneously view and analyze data from up to 32 channels of different scopes using the same interface, increasing the efficiency and speed of analysis.

Tektronix has accelerated the development of TekScope as much as possible to respond to the rapid and drastic changes imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which have affected both the way designers work and the place where they work.

Since many designers now find themselves operating in an environment where the oscilloscope is not present, the new Multi-Scope analysis capability allows them to efficiently process, analyze and share data without the need to be physically close to the instrument or present in the testing environment.

Unlike similar software currently available, the new Multi-Scope analysis feature allows users to remotely control acquisition settings simultaneously for all oscilloscopes without having to set up each instrument individually.

The Multi-Scope analysis functionality also solves a problem that users feel strongly about: having a high-resolution solution that can capture very fast glitches on all channels simultaneously.

Connection with remote oscilloscope

TekScope is compatible with data acquired from all Tektronix oscilloscopes so users can take advantage of the innovative user interface and analysis capabilities for all existing oscilloscopes.

Users can connect remotely with the MSO 4/5/6 Series, the Tektronix 5/6 Low Profile Oscilloscopes, the DPO 7000C, 7000SX and 7000DX, as well as the TBS 1000 and TBS 2000 benchtop oscilloscopes.

Through this, they can transfer real-time data from the oscilloscopes into the TekScope software and conduct additional local analysis while debugging the 32 channels.

TekScope PC software: key features

TekScope PC software brings the full potential of an oscilloscope's analysis environment to a PC.

Users are given the ability to perform a variety of analyses, including serial decoding, power analysis, as well as timing, eye diagram and jitter analysis, outside of a lab.

Users can get the acquired data from their oscilloscopes and continue to work anywhere, sharing analysis results with colleagues.

The use of TekScope, introduced in mid-2020 with thegoal of "Helping users by giving them the ability to perform waveform analysis anytime, anywhere," has many benefits including:

  • Convenience and Productivity - TekScope enables users to analyze waveform files acquired from a wide range of oscilloscopes, including those from competing manufacturers, anywhere, anytime to improve work efficiency, save time and avoid unnecessary trips to the lab. With TekScope, users can make their scopes available to other personnel while they analyze and debug data from their PCs.
  • Data Sharing - TekScope allows users to work on actual data files, not just screen shots. They can zoom in on waveforms, move cursors, perform measurements and many other operations, while still sharing information with colleagues.
  • Multi-Scope Analysis - TekScope is designed for all users looking for a modular system that can be expanded up to 32 channels. With the Multi-Scope license, designers can use TekScope with both new and existing oscilloscopes. This allows them to simultaneously view and analyze real-time data from up to 32 channels of 4 different oscilloscopes on a single screen.
  • Extending the capabilities of oscilloscopes - TekScope allows designers to extend the capabilities of the oscilloscopes they use by adding additional analysis capabilities not available in the software options provided with their instruments. TekScope is compatible with data acquired from all Tektronix oscilloscopes so users can take advantage of the innovative user interface and analysis capabilities for all existing oscilloscopes.
Comments

"Developing test applications capable of supporting up to 32 channels of different oscilloscopes involves solving numerous feasibility issues, as well as long lead times for both development and market introduction," explained Raajit Lall, General Manager for Tektronix' Market Solutions business. "TekScope isdesigned to fill this gap and help design engineers get a clear picture of all the information coming from what can be described as a true 32-channel virtual oscilloscope by leveraging a user interface that suits them. By using the software to connect multiple scopes and aggregating the data into a single screen, we have set a new paradigm for simultaneous debugging on multiple channels.
