TDK Corporation has announced the introduction of the TDK-Lambda DBM20 DIN rail 24V 20A buffer module.
The buffer module is ideal for providing short-term peak or hold-up power for loads connected to an AC-DC power supply with 24Vdc output.
It can provide an additional hold-up of 250 ms with an output power of 448 W or 2 seconds with a 2.5 A load.
The extended hold-up time allows equipment to shut down safely and avoid data loss during AC power outages.
Applications for the module include industrial automation, robotics and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Standard equipment includes a remote on/off function to prevent dangerous discharges of stored energy, a DC OK relay, LED indicators and photo-coupled signals indicating charge and full discharge modes.
Several modules can be connected in parallel for longer buffer times. During normal operation, energy is stored in the electrolytic capacitors, avoiding the need for service and maintenance of the batteries.
The switch accessible from the front panel can be used to select fixed or variable voltage buffer levels.
In fixed mode, it will supply power when the input voltage drops to 22.4 V, in variable mode when the input decreases by 1 V from the initial value.
Measuring only 49 x 123.6 x 115.4 mm, the units operate at ambient temperatures between -25°C and +70°C.
The product warranty is five years. In addition, the DBM20 offers protection against over-voltage and over-current conditions at the input. In-rush current reduction and internal fuses are also provided.
Safety certifications include IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1, UL 508 with CE marking for Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS directives.
