ODU's new ODU MINI-SNAP connector for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE ) enables Ethernet connections over copper cables with a single twisted pair, while also enabling power supply to end devices via PoDL (Power over Data Line).
The new generation of connectors' simpler design, associated weight and space reduction are useful for designers and developers in various areas.
SPE standards and usage:
- 1000BASE-T1 (IEEE 802.3bp)
- 1000BASE-T1 (IEEE 802.3bw)
- 10BASE-T1 (IEEE 802.3cq)
The maximum distances of the standards vary between 15.40 and 1000 meters.
SPE is currently being introduced in new automotive generations, replacing CAN and other bus systems.
In the future, communication, controls and safety functions will be managed uniformly via Ethernet.
The industrial automation sector will also benefit: in this case, SPE allows barrier-free connection of devices, sensor and actuator technology and much more.
SPE is available for the ODU MINI-SNAP L / K series and for the ODU-MAC series.
