ROHM's BM2SC12xFP2-LBZ AC/DC converter ICs with an integrated 1700V SiC MOSFET in a TO 263-7L package are perfect for industrial applications focusing on auxiliary power supplies for street lights, commercial air conditioning systems, common inverters and AC servo drives.

The auxiliary power supply is an indispensable and fundamental element in industrial applications, as it provides different levels of DC voltages to gate drivers and control units.

By using existing Si MOSFET devices, the designer is unable to achieve higher efficiency and power due to the higher losses of such Si devices.

Existing solutions require a heat sink and additional components that increase both device losses and system size, thus requiring additional space.

Designing an auxiliary power supply with existing Si devices also proves costly due to a larger BOM.

ROHM's BM2SC12xFP2-LBZ power IC s consist of quasi-resonant (QR) AC/DC converters with a 1700 V SiC MOSFET integrated in a single compact surface mount package (TO263).

When considering efficiency, reduced design time, simplified circuits and fewer additional components through integrated solutions, these ICs are the perfect, best-in-class products for solutions involving industrial auxiliary power supplies.

These ICs also increase product reliability by minimising the risk of component failure.

When used in 400 VAC auxiliary power supplies with 48 W output, they allow for automatic mounting on the board, which was previously impossible, as well as a significant reduction in the number of external parts compared to standard configurations, from 12 components plus heat sink to just one component.

At the same time, the adoption of a SiC MOSFET improves energy efficiency by up to 5% by reducing the risk of component failure.

As a result, the reliability and energy savings of industrial equipment increase dramatically, while themounting area and costs decrease significantly.

In addition, ROHM's BM2SC123FP2-EVK-001 evaluation board, which uses our BM2SC123FP2-LBZ AC/DC integrated circuit, is available to support designers.

This evaluation board provides a maximum power of 48 W at 400 VAC without any power sink. The test result of the evaluation board shows that the output voltage (24 V) is constant and independent of the input voltage.
