New non-contact current clamps

Conrad Electronic has expanded its product offering in the area of current clamps with two new non-contact measuring devices from Fluke.

The Fluke 377 and 378 True RMS clamp meters use FieldSense technology, which makes the measurement process easier and safer by eliminating the need for direct contact with live conductors.

Technicians simultaneously receive accurate voltage and amperage readings when the device is grounded and the clamp jaws are connected to the conductor.

In practice, the display changes colour to green as soon as a stable FieldSense measurement is available. This type of visual display is particularly useful in noisy environments.

The supplied iFlex measuring tip, which allows access to high-voltage conductors in hard-to-reach places and is suitable for AC currents up to 2500 A, makes operation even easier.

The ability to measure alternating currents up to 1000 A and even up to 2500 A in True RMS when using the iFlex test tip makes the Fluke 377/378 series ideal for high voltage measurements, including three-phase systems.

Testing three-phase systems requires only three simple steps to obtain a complete set of values between phases and between phase and neutral. All measured values are shown side by side on the dual display.

Both devices are also available in FC (Fluke Connect) versions such as 377FC and 378FC with Bluetooth connectivity.

The software enables remote acquisition, evaluation and monitoring of values to detect intermittent faults that are sometimes difficult to diagnose.

FC versions also automatically calculate thephase angle, which is then displayed on your mobile phone or stored in the cloud using Fluke Connect, eliminating time-consuming and error-prone typed or handwritten notes.

With Fluke Connect, maintenance technicians and repair crews can easily capture and share measurements remotely.

Reporting is a standard feature and the data collected is very useful for putting together preventive maintenance programmes.

The 378 FC current clamp has a special Power Quality (PQ) det ector that detects current, voltage and active factor problems and allows you to quickly check whether the cause of a technical fault is on the power supply side or on connected devices.

Comments

"Fast results and safe use are the priority for many electricians, contractors and technicians who need to make high voltage and high current measurements as part of their work," said Walter Hock, product manager at Fluke. "Users of our Fluke 377 and Fluke 378 can trust that the tools are accurate, easy to use and extremely safe."

"At Conrad, we are always looking for products that make our customers' lives easier and safer," says Susanne Storch, Senior Product Manager at Conrad Electronic. "And that's exactly what Fluke multimeters do. Combined with integrated data processing and automatic storage of results in the cloud, we see the future of electrical measuring technology here. We are confident that customers looking to upgrade their existing equipment will find these products very attractive."
