TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the XMS500A series of 500 W configurable AC-DC power supplies.

The series is mechanically designed for effective cooling with low airflow of 1 m/s, reducing acoustic noise.

Additional features compared to previous XMS500 models include an ATX power good signal, full power with 85Vac input, extended hold-up time of 20ms and compliance for EN 60601-1-2 immunity.

The XMS500A is certified to medical and industrial safety standards and meets the radiated and conducted emissions of EN 55011-B and EN 55032-B in Class I or II (ungrounded) protection applications.

Target applications include home healthcare, hospital equipment, diagnostic and clinical imaging systems, as well as industrial, test and measurement and communication equipment.

The XMS500A's configurability allows engineers to choose from a wide range of options to optimise system design and reduce costs without requiring the development of a modified standard.

These options include standby voltages of 5 V and 12 V, choice of power supply voltage for the fan, case options (including an integrated fan), remote on/off, leakage/reduced touch current, AC fault and single or double input fuse.

The standard output voltages available are 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V. Additional voltages and options are also available.

Operating from 85 to 264Vac and withstanding peaks of 300Vac for five seconds, the series can provide full power at ambient temperatures up to 50°C with linear derating at 50% of the load at 70°C. The open frame configuration measures 102x180x37 mm and U channel 107x180x39.5 mm.

All models are safetycertified IEC/EN/ES 60601-1, IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, 60950-1, designed to meet IEC 61010-1 and IEC 60035-1 with CE marking for low voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.

The XMS500A also complies with emission and immunity standards EN 61000-6-3, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 61000-4.

Input-to-outputisolation is 4,000 Vac (2 x MoPP), input-to-ground isolation is 1,500 Vac (1 x MoPP) and output-to-ground isolation is 1,500 Vac (1 x MoPP) for suitability in B, BF and BFD (defibrillator proof) equipment.
