Analog Devices introduces the LTC3337, a primary (non-rechargeable) battery health check (SOH ) device with nanoPower technology, designed to be connected in series with the primary battery and with minimal voltage drop.
The patented Coulomb counter, with unlimited dynamic range, measures battery discharge and stores it in an internal register accessible via an I2C interface.
The quiescent current consumption of just 100nA enables longer battery life.
TheLTC3337 also enables health monitoring and provides information via the I2C interface: battery voltage, impedance and temperature.
To take advantage of awide range of primary batteries, the peak input current limit is pin selectable in a range from 5mA to 100mA.
This allows the IC to present the battery with a load profile that enables it to deliver its maximum capacity, regardless of the actual load, thus extending the life of the cell.
The LTC3337 is the ideal solution for primary cell applications that require occasional power supply, such as remote site applications, electronic locks or glass breakage detectors.
The device can also be used for rechargeable battery applications.
