Pickering Electronics has announced the introduction of the 100HV Series high-voltage SIL/SIP reed relays , which feature stand-off voltage ratings up to 3 kV and coil resistance more than double that of previous devices.
They are therefore suitable for applications such as cable or transformer testing or any other automatic test equipment that requires high voltages but also low power consumption in the coil.
Three types of dry-contact switches are available, with stand-off voltage equal to 1.5 kV, 2 kV or 3 kV DC.
The 3 kV version has a larger gap between the switch and coil pins to operate at higher voltage.
Higher voltage versions are available onrequest.
The 100HV Series reed relays have an internal mu-metal shielding to facilitate tight stacking without the risk of problems caused by magnetic interaction.
The new high-voltage SIL/SIP reed relays are available with one or two switches in a single package in 1 Form A, 2 Form A and 1 Form B configurations.
5 V, 12 V or 24 V coils with optional internal diode can be specified.
Comments
Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics, comments: "When the mains voltage is switched, for example to control and isolate SCR or triac gates, the 100HV Series reed relays are the ideal choice. And in mixed-signal applications, the lower coil power consumption provided by the new relays reduces the thermoelectric forces generated at the switch ends."
