80 W DC/DC Converter for industrial applications

COSEL has announced the addition of an 80 W DC/DC converter to its STMGF platform.

Available in two versions, the STMGFS80 covers all industrial voltages from 9V to 76V.

Using COSEL'sefficient board-mountedMGFS80 DC/DC converter, the STMGFS80 series fits into the same footprint as its predecessor, which previously delivered only 30 W.

Ready to use, the STMGFS80 includes terminal blocks, output voltage potentiometer, input filter and additional capacitors.

The series complies with UL62368-1 and C-UL EN62368-1 safety standards.

Battery-powered industrial applications require very efficient power solutions and designers are trying to reduce the number of sources when selecting a power supply.

They also look for power supplies that can be easily mounted as DC/DC converters within their equipment.

Combining COSEL's high-efficiency, wide input range DC/DC modules with a robust mechanical platform, the STMG platform offers designers an easy way to gain the benefits of a high-quality power solution in an industrial mounting case.

The STMGFS80 series is available in two models: STMGFS8024 from 9VDC to 36VDC, covering 12 and 24V systems and STMGFS8048 from 18VDC to 76VDC, covering 24 and 48V industrial systems.

Four output voltages are available : 3.3V/18A, 5V/16A, 12V/6.7A and 15V/5.4A.

The output voltage can be adjusted by a potentiometer included on the motherboard.

All modules include a remote ON/OFF control function via interface connector.

Negative logic is the standard mode used to control the ON/OFF via the remote function, although Positive logic RC (Option R) can be supplied on request.

COSEL STMGFS80 has atypical efficiency of up to 92%.

Optimised for convection cooling, the power supplies can be used in an ambient temperature range of -20 to +70 degrees Celsius.

Depending on the mounting method and ventilation levels in the final equipment, downgrading may be applied (as specified in the technical documentation).

The STMGFS80 series includes overvoltage and overcurrent protection.

In the event of an overcurrent of more than 105%, the module will operate in hiccup mode and automatically recover when the output current returns to normal.

For safety and galvanic isolation, the STMGFS80 series has 1,500VDC Input and RC to Output, 1,000VDC Input and RC to FG and 1,000 VDC Output to FG.

The STMGFS80 can be assembled directly to the equipment frame by attaching the DC/DC plate using the two mounting holes.

It can also be attached to a DIN rail frame with option (N2).

Some additional options, such as plastic cover (N1) or DIN and cover combination (N3), will be available later.

The open frame version, the STMGFS80 series measures 52 x 29 x 117 mm and weighs 170 g max.

The STMGFS80 joins the 15W STMGFS15 and 30W STMGFS30, offering a wide range of options and possibilities to system designers.

To simplify system upgrades, the STMGFS80 has the same footprint as the STMGFS30.

The STMGFS80 series has a five-year warranty and complies with the European RoHS, REACH and low voltage directives.
