1.5kW constant current and voltage power supply with advanced programmability

XP Power introduces two new 1.5 kW single-phase input AC-DC power supplies, offering programmable constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) operation with both analogue and digital interfaces for user control.

These compact, cost-effective solutions utilise an efficient zero-volt resonant switching topology (ZVS) and are suitable for equipment manufacturers in a wide range of industries, including industrial, process control, printing, medical, semiconductor manufacturing, water treatment and test/measurement.

Applications for these new models are varied and include medical imaging and patient treatment/diagnostics, etching and deposition in semiconductor manufacturing, battery charging, robotics and lasers.

Otherapplications such as industrial printing, galvanising, cathodic protection, LED heating/polymerisation, water purification and hydrogen generation would also benefit from these new units.

Increasingly demanding users require power sources that offer both CV and DC operation together with programmability, flexibility and the ability to configure it directly.

The new HPA1K5 series has been introduced to meet these demanding requirements.

Built-in digital control allows users to quickly configure (and reconfigure) the unit for any application using software settings, eliminating the need for complex and time-consuming hardware changes.

Measuring just 279.4 x 106.7 x 41.7 mm, the HPA1K5 units take up much less space than typical 1.5 kW power supplies, saving space and weight in the final application.

Despite their small size, the HPA1K5 units are full-featured and offer efficient operation, up to 93% and a high response speed for instrumentation applications.

The 80 - 264VACinput range offers a wide operating range for global markets and requires minimal derating at low voltage.

Single output 24VDC and 48VDC rated voltages programmable up to 105% of the rated value are available asstandard.

Thecurrent output can be programmed up to 110% of the nominal value.

If mains power is present, an additional 5V/2 Astandby power supply is always active.

Compliance with EMC and safety standards for industrial, ITE and medical use facilitate integration into end-use applications.

Specifically, the HPA1K5 is approved according to EN55011/EN55032 for EMC emissions, EN61000-4-x for EMC immunity and IEC62368-1 Ed. 2 for ITE safety.

For medical applications, the units are approved according to IEC60601-1 Ed. 3 (including risk management) and offer 2 x MOPP (means of patient protection) from primary to secondary.

As standard, HPA1K5 units support several digital protocols including PMBus, CANopen, MODBUS and SCPI.

A full duplex RS485interface is included, which can be configured half duplex via I2C or factory configured.

Analogue control is available via a 0-5V programming option.

An advanced graphical user interface(GUI) together with a full suite of development tools and a user manual ensure that designers can quickly and easily configure the units during development or reconfigure them for a different application.

Although 1.5 kW of power is sufficient for most applications, up to five HPA1K5 units can be configured in parallel using the built-in power sharing technology for applications where an economical high-power solution is required.
