This White Paper, entirely in Italian, produced by ODU, examines the challenges faced by manufacturers in designing reinforced connectors for high-speed data transmission, considering not only size but also factors such as ease of use, performance, durability and transmission reliability.
For many industrial applications and extreme environments, there is a need for reinforced connectors, which prevent malfunctions caused by contamination by fluids or dirt, as well as possible damage due to excessive external stress.
Many manufacturers have opted for a traditional solution, creating universal solutions that reflect current form factors, and achieving hybrid results in terms of size,
performance and usability. As a result, many of these generically designed connectors have a diameter of 30 mm or more.
High-speed connector manufacturer ODU has taken a different approach, replacing standard connectors with a family of uniquely designed, reinforced connectors with a diameter of just 11.9 mm for protocols such as USB 3 and 10 G Ethernet.
