Omron Electronic Components Europe announces the new G5RL-K-EL latching relay.
The new device offers the high inrush performance needed in smart building automation systems and control of capacitive loads.
The new low-profile power relay, ideal for controlling fluorescent and LED lamps, features an innovative single-contact design that makes it a highly competitive solution.
The new G5RL-K-EL bistable 16A is IEC60669-1 rated and can handle inrush currents up to 255A. This makes it an excellent choice for demanding switching environments where loads vary enormously.
The device is also compatible with international safety standards for electrical/electronic appliances (IEC60335-1).
The sealed design saves energy as no current is required to keep the relay open.

The device is an addition to the company's well-known G5RL family of relays. Andries de Bruin, Senior European Product Marketing Manager at Omron, explains: "Smart building systems avoid touching shared surfaces, which is an important safety measure in view of the return to normal working life after COVID-19. In this respect, facility managers are increasingly turning to automated lighting to increase safety and save energy. However, the highly variable loads typical of these systems require special components. The new G5RL-K-EL is an intelligent solution to this growing challenge.
