Murata announces the availability of the DFE21CCN_EL series ofpower inductors.

Intended foruse in DC/DC converters and power management circuits, these components represent major improvements in operating performance parameters over the company's previous generation of inductors.

They feature a 20% increase in saturation current (ISAT) and a 50% reduction in DC resistance (RDC) compared to their predecessors.

These parameters help to increase levels of operational efficiency and allow scaling of system designs.

The new Murata inductors benefit from the company's long experience in materials science, with specially developed metal materials, low-resistance terminals and an optimised moulding technique.

Innovative L-shaped electrodes enable these components to achieve significantly higher density levels than those of other manufacturers.

The DFE21CCNR24MEL has an inductance value of 0.24 µH, with an RDC of 20 mOhm (Max) and anISAT of 6.5 A (Max).

For the DFE21CCNR47MEL, the key values are 0.47 µH for inductance, 29 mOhm (max) for RDC and 4.8 A (max) forISAT.

The 1.0 µH DFE21CCN1R0MEL and the 2.2 µH DFE21CCN2R2MEL have respective typical RDC values of 60 mOhms and 138 mOhms, withISAT values of 3.3 A and 2.1 A.

Murata's DFE21CCN_EL series components are supplied in the 0805 inch format. Additional sizes will be introduced in the future in order to expand the breadth of applications this series can be useful for.

Comments

"Under normal circumstances, if you try to improve theISAT value of a power inductor, its RDC will be affected accordingly. Conversely, a lowerISATwill have an impact on the RDC of the power inductor," explains Tomohiro Yao, EMI Division, General Manager of Marketing & Promotion Department, at Murata. "Thanks to the technological advances we have been able to implement, both from a process and structural perspective, we have been able to improveISATand RDC simultaneously, without compromise."
