MikroElektronika, distributed in Italy by Galgo Electronics, has launched NB IoT 4 Click, a compact add-on board for IoT applications such as smart energy measurement, smart wearable devices, asset tracking and security, home appliances, environmental monitoring and more.

The new Click card features a cellular wireless communications module with an integrated digital SIM (eSIM) that offers global data connectivity even in countries lacking the most modern communications infrastructure.

The NB IoT 4 Click uses Cavli Wireless' C1-RM, an NB-IoT IoT/2G wireless communications module that supports the three bands 3, 5, and 8 and is designed primarily for low-power data transmission applications.

The module also supports the 3GPP Release 13 standard and meets almost all M2M requirements thanks to its very small size.

Current consumption in standby is less than 1 mA and in deep sleep mode it can be as low as 5 µA.

Standard interfaces, protocol stacks and a full range of data and SMS servicesare provided to meet customer needs.

The NB IoT 4 Click board is supported by a mikroSDK standard library that includes functions that simplify software development and is delivered fully tested, ready for use on any system equipped with the mikroBUS socket.

Comments

Commented Nebojsa Matic, Managing Director of MIKROE: "This module has been specially designed for countries with less than 100% NB-IoT coverage, making LPWAN deployments possible using 2G, and then switching to NB-IoT when the network is ready. The integrated eSIM function ensures that the module can be deployed worldwide."
