Quectel Wireless Solutions, distributed in Italy by Elstore, announces the LC76G compact single-band GNSS module, characterised by fast and accurate positioning performance and very low power consumption.

Based on the Airoha AG3352 platform, the LC76G module is capable of simultaneously receiving and processing signals from all satellite constellations (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS), and this, together with SBAS support, significantly increases the number of visible satellites and improves accuracy.

The LC76G module can receive signals from up to 47 satellites and achieve a positioning accuracy of 1.5 m (CEP50 open-sky), a 40 per cent improvement over the previous generation of devices.

The Quectel LC76G module is available in both cost-optimised and low-power versions.

The latter consumes less than 9mA @3V with all 4 satellite constellations enabled, resulting in a 72% reduction in the power required compared to the previous generation, which makes the module attractive for battery-powered devices such as personal wearable and portable container trackers, wildlife and livestock tracking devices, toll tags, as well as a number of mainstream applications such as shared mobility and low-cost asset trackers.

The LC76G is equipped with an internal SAW filter and integrated LNA, can be connected directly to a passive patch antenna, and includes a filter for unwanted interference that guarantees excellent performance even when driving within cities.

TheEPO (extended prediction orbit) integrated in the AGNSS technology, supported by the Quectel LC76G, reduces the time to first positioning (TTFF) with a hot start that takes less than 1 second, a basic start of less than 2 seconds, and a cold start that can achieve accurate positioning within 15 seconds.

Faster GNSS results make it possible to use accurate positioning and navigation services at any place and time, while consuming less energy than before.

While EPO requires manual downloading of satellite orbits, the LC76G also supports EASY (Embedded Assist System), where information is collected from satellites and allows up to 3 days of accelerated corrections.

Both EPO and Easy are available for each satellite constellation and allow for faster TTFF and less dependence on a particular constellation.

The Quectel LC76G has a leadless chip carrier ( LCC) form factor and very compact dimensions of 10.1 × 9.7 × 2.4 mm, compatible with other industry solutions and Quectel's own L76 and L76-LB modules.

This allows for a smoother migration of existing projects to the latest low-power GNSS technology.

In addition, Quectel offers a wide range of high-performance antennas, both standard and customised, that greatly enhance wireless connectivity.

Quectel's LC76G module can be combined with a selection of L1 GNSS antennas to meet different positioning requirements.
