Analog Devices has announced the world's first single-pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE) Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and Power Device (PD) solutions that enable customers to increase the level of intelligence in smart buildings, industrial automation, and other edge applications of traditional networks.
The new offerings facilitate last-mile powered connectivity for building automation and factory automation through real-time power management, telemetry, extremely low standby power consumption, and ease of installation.
Digital buildings of the future
Analog Devices' new SPoE solutions, the LTC4296-1 andLTC9111 provide power and data to devices, even for endpoints in remote and difficult-to-access locations.
ADI's innovations aim to power and make accessible new families of endpoint applications across the network by evaluating local factors such as asset health, environmental conditions, security metrics and more.
The localized awareness and control they offer are the building blocks of the smart buildings of the future.
Analog Devices' SPoE solutions reduce the constraint of localized power and batteries by using a single twisted pair of Ethernet cables to provide efficient, reliable, and easily installed power with reduced size and weight.
In combination with ADI's Chronous ADIN1100 and ADIN1110 10BASE-T1L Industrial Ethernet solutions, customers can securely transmit both power and data over the distance of one kilometer which, compared to previous Ethernet standards, is a significant advancement.
Interoperable efficiency
The new LTC4296-1 SPoE PSE, 5-port with classification, and the LTC9111 SPoE PD, with polarity correction, support both SPoE and Power over Data Line (PoDL) variants of single-pair power supply.
SPoE augments Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) to realize more reliable, interoperable and fault-tolerant point-to-point power solutions capable of delivering up to 52W.
Both products comply with the 802.3cg standard and support the Serial Communication Classification Protocol (SCCP).
Comments
"The Intelligent Edge is one of the most exciting advances of the digital age, as computing power is pushed into previously inaccessible applications and spaces," said Leo McHugh, Vice President of Industrial Automation at Analog Devices. "We arecommitted to providing the technology and solutions our customers need to harness the full potential of the Intelligent Edge in smart buildings and factories and many other future applications."
