Distrelec, introduces to the market the Industrial Shields brand, which develops and provides automation solutions based on open source hardware.

Distrelec will offer Industrial Shields' wide range of industrial automation products based on boards such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi and ESP32.

Industrial Shields provides programmable logic controllers (PLCs) at a lower cost than other automation brands.

In addition, while most automation vendors charge for software in addition to hardware, Industrial Shields offers open source software for free.

These products are suitable for multiple applications and markets, with growing interest in monitoring and digitization solutions recorded in recent months.

Innovations

A Raspberry Pi PLC industrial automation controller from Industrial Shields is now available from Distrelec.

This device brings together three elements in one: a PC with high processing power, a router with several communication options, and a PLC.

This hardware is ideal for monitoring solutions or for implementing predictive maintenance, quality improvement, supply chain optimization, and many other similar applications that generate and process huge volumes of data.

Another product provided by Distrelec is the ESP32 dual core PLC from Industrial Shields, suitable for a variety of automation projects.

The dual cores of ESP32 have great processing power and management capability, which means it can handle the input and output part with one core and all the communication part with the other core.

Distrelec is also introducing to the market M-Duino with LoRA from Industrial Shields, an Arduino-based industrial controller with LoRa communication.

Suitable applications include those in the industrial field, a whole range of Smart City solutions, smart rural, home automation, and resource management applications (such as water, gas, electricity, and so on).

Comments

"In the automation sector, open source solutions are making their way into industrial applications," explained Albert Prieto, CEO of Industrial Shields. "We believe there is still a long way to go, as is the case with open source software. At Industrial Shields, we have made a significant investment in research and new product development, which has allowed us to stand out from the competition and become a global benchmark in open source industrial technology."

Albert Prieto continues: "Our primary goal is to help our customers be more competitive through safe and reliable industrial technology based on open source. Wehave multiplied the number of references in our catalog by 30; this has allowed us to expand the possibilities offered by our products and the type of projects in which our equipment can be implemented."

Charlotte Kennedy, category management manager at Distrelec, adds, "We are delighted to add the innovative Industrial Shields product range to our portfolio. Our customers' needs are at the forefront when it comes to deciding what new brands and products to offer, and we believe Industrial Shields will be a hit with open source advocates."
