The Chomerics Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation has launched THERM-A-GAP PAD 70TP, an ultra-soft (Shore 15 hardness), high-performance and highly adaptable thermally conductive elastomer bearing to meet the needs of a wide range of demanding industrial applications.
THERM-A-GAP PAD 70TP combinesexcellent thermal conductivity (7.0 W/m-K) and ultra-soft fit, as well as very low outgassing.
The result is aneffective thermal interface between the heat sinks and electronic devices, even in the presence of uneven surfaces, interferences, or textures with rough surfaces.
With superior thermal performance and long-term stability compared to conventional thermal pads, typical uses of THERM-A-GAP PAD 70TP include telecommunications equipment, applications on PC chassis and boards, thermally optimized ball grid arrays (BGAs), memory modules and packages, CPU and GPU applications, and a wide range of industrial devices.
These and many other applications will benefit from the excellent thermal properties of THERM-A-GAP PAD 70TP, which include a thermal impedance of 0.27 °C-in/w (at 10 psi, 1 mm thickness) and a heat capacity of 0.72 J/g-K.
In addition, the product offers outstanding electrical insulation properties, with volume resistivity of1013 ohm-cm, as well as low deflection force and reduced oil venting.
The latter is especially important because it minimizes the generation of greasy substances on the surface of the heat sink or substrate during use.
The oil venting of comparable products in the market can indeed reduce electrical performance in the form of lower surface resistance and breakdown voltage.
In addition, impurities and surrounding particles can absorb the oil or adhere to it, compromising the performance and durability of the product.
Parker Chomerics manufactures custom-made THERM-A-GAP PAD 70TP for easy application to the desired component.
A fabric-backed version is available for increased tear resistance and easy handling.
Suitable for use in a wide operating temperature range from -55 to +200 °C, the new RoHS-compliant thermally conductive elastometer bearing is available in standard thicknesses from 0.76 to 5.0 mm.
